Titanosaur Eggs in Southern Patagonia

Evidence of the Created Supercontinent and Catastrophic Plate Tectonics

A September 10, 2026, NewsNation report, circulated through Apple News, describes more than 250 titanosaur eggshell fragments recovered from the Chorrillo Formation near the southern tip of Argentina. Researchers led by University of Calgary paleontologist Darla Zelenitsky and colleagues from Japan and Argentina identify the fragments as Fusioolithus-type eggs linked to the giant long-necked sauropods. The shells are highly porous. The team concludes the parents buried the eggs in mounds of rotting vegetation so microbial decay, rather than sunlight or brooding, supplied the heat. Secular accounts place the site at 55–60° south paleolatitude about 68 million years ago and treat the find as proof that titanosaurs adapted to cooler high-latitude climates far from the equator.

The fossils are real. The nesting behavior is real. The deep-time story wrapped around them is not.

Genesis 1:9–10 records that God gathered the waters into one place so dry land appeared. That single landmass of sialic cratons existed from Creation Week until the Flood. As we have shown in “The Craton Record,” ICR reconstructions favored by Dr. Tim Clarey place a slightly modified Pangaea configuration centered near the equator. Matching craton edges, Glossopteris and Mesosaurus fossils, paleomagnetic data, and a continuous belt of thick Late Precambrian salt deposits align only when the continents sit in that equatorial-centered arrangement. Southern Patagonia was not a polar outpost for tens of millions of years. It belonged to the original equatorial landmass.

On the seventeenth day of the second month in Noah’s six hundredth year, “all the fountains of the great deep were broken up” (Genesis 7:11). That rupture initiated Catastrophic Plate Tectonics. Pre-Flood oceanic lithosphere began runaway subduction. Continents raced apart in months, not millions of years. A short-lived intermediate supercontinent formed during the first 150 days of the Flood. By the end of the 371-day Flood year the fountains were stopped, the waters receded, and the piece of crust that now holds the Chorrillo Formation had already been carried far south. The “high paleolatitude” is the result of the Flood’s tectonics, not 70 million years of slow drift.

The eggs were laid and buried in that same year. So-called Late Cretaceous strata are mid-to-late Flood deposits. Titanosaurs did not spend geologic ages inventing compost-mound nesting. The same design that lets modern crocodiles and megapodes use rotting vegetation was already present in the original created kinds. Porous eggshells that would dry out if left exposed simply show the animals used the covering strategy God built into them. That is built-in adaptability within a kind, not evolution across ages.

The pre-Flood world itself removes most of the supposed cool-climate problem. Our discussions of the optimized pre-Flood atmosphere describe a milder, more uniform climate from pole to equator, sustained by the mist hydrology of Genesis 2:5–6, elevated pressure and oxygen, and geothermal warmth. Even after the continents began to move, the Flood year was not a modern Patagonian winter. Superheated waters from the fountains, massive volcanic heat, and a still-reconfiguring atmosphere produced conditions far warmer than today’s southern tip of South America. The animals nested on a landmass that started near the equator and was violently relocated while the Flood buried everything.

The same mechanisms explain the preservation. Rapid burial in mineral-rich waters from the fountains, hydrothermal activity, and tsunami-scale currents produced the delicate eggshells, just as they produced the paper-thin crocodyliform eggs we reviewed from Brazil and the soft tissues documented in dinosaur bone. Fragile shells do not survive millions of years of exposure and slow sedimentation. They survive a single year of catastrophic burial.

NewsNation usefully records the fossils and the nesting method. It becomes misleading the moment it treats 68 million years and gradual plate motion as established fact. Restore the original equatorial landmass. Let the fountains of the great deep do what Genesis says they did. The titanosaur eggs then sit exactly where we would expect them: laid on the created supercontinent, buried in the Flood, and carried south by Catastrophic Plate Tectonics.
